Who THEY ARE:
Gelberg Signs of Washington, DC

What THEY DO: Offers paid internships and careers to at-risk DC youth, helping them avoid homelessness and poverty.

"We win as much as Covenant House does. These kids are often our star performers."

– Guy Brami, Principal

Brami Give a young person an opportunity, and you can make a lifetime’s worth of difference – and strengthen the local workforce too.
That’s the double goal of Gelberg Signs. The group works with Covenant House Washington, a nonprofit organization which
provides support and training to help young adults avoid poverty and homelessness. Gelberg offers four-week paid internships for youth to enhance skills learned at Covenant House – followed by an opportunity to join the company full-time.

WINNERS' WORDS:
“Covenant House of Washington has a great training program teaching kids basic carpentry, electrical work ... trade skills they can take anywhere. We hire them for the internship, and often we hire them full-time afterward – we’ve gotten 12 employees that way so far. If we don’t have an opening, they can put us on their resume as a reference. These kids are dependable and have a work ethic – they realize this is their chance for a career.”
